With all this information to hand, working up your own personal weather forecast is now a viable prospect for all. Furthermore, most have the ability to upload your local data to an online weather network as well as to a mobile phone app for you to view the data remotely. They all provide one or more weather-resistant outdoor remote sensors, and the more comprehensive models even monitor wind speed and direction, plus a rain catcher. In addition to a simple barometer giving the air pressure and trend, most of these stations also provide time/date, temperature, and humidity inside and out, sunrise/set times, tidal data, moon phases, plus historic data and trends in graphical format. So what should you look for in the best digital weather stations and where do you buy them? Virtually all barometers are now electronic and many are now complete digital weather stations capable of providing extensive meteorological data, the likes of which only a professional forecaster would have had access to a few decades ago.

No longer “Silk City,” Paterson nowadays is a mixture of different socio-economic neighborhoods. Manufactures of firearms – such as the first revolver by Samuel Colt – and railroad locomotives factories came later.īut it was the enormous volume of excellent silk produced by dozens of silk-manufacturing and silk-dying sites in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that put Paterson on the map, earning it the nickname “Silk City.” This power system, the most significant at that time, made possible the establishment of mills and manufacturing sites associated with the textile industry. Born in Paris, Pierre (or Peter, as he called himself in the United States) Charles L’Enfant was an engineer and architect who also designed the basic plan for Washington, D.C. Diverting water just above the falls, Pierre developed a system of water channels to provide power for mills and manufacturing plants along the river. The Society hired Pierre Charles L’Enfant to harness the energy of the Passaic River. Thus Paterson came into existence – a city named for New Jersey Governor William Paterson. In 1792, the Society purchased 700 acres of land around the Great Falls. With that in mind, and on his initiative, the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures (S.U.M.) was created in 1791. This region’s history starts with Alexander Hamilton, the brilliant first United States Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton believed that industrializing the young nation would help the United States achieve financial independence. This 119-acre Historic Landmark District tells a century-old history set amid a stunning spectacle of nature. Less than an hour west of New York City, the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park is located in Paterson, New Jersey. For the most part, I feel like I have squeezed everything out of Kafka in terms of performance and want to focus internally on optimizing my own service. It might be relevant to mention that I am using Apache Kafka, using Kafka Streams with Spring Cloud Streams. Some systems may deal with single threaded workload much better then others. Is there a way in Java 8 (or later) to switch between stream() and parallelStream() intelligently? I considered at one point defining boundaries on the data that would allow for alternating between the two but in the end, not every piece of equipment is designed the same. I have profiled my application a dozen times and have had mixed results. Then there are times where a single thread will accomplish the task much more efficiently. There will be times where the volume is so large, my application would massively benefit from parallelizing the workload. In my particular use case, do to the nature of the application, the velocity and volume of the data I am processing will be all over the place. From what I understand, parallelStream() is a great facility to process entries in parallel but it all comes down to execution time and overhead. This is a question I constantly ask myself when designing a data intensive application: When is it appropriate to use stream() over parallelStream()? Would it make sense to use both? How do I quantify the metrics and conditions to intelligently decide which ones to use at runtime. In many ways, his priorities resemble those of his first time serving in the position. “Under Kathy Hoffman, my view is she has been diverted by other things like critical race theory, social-emotional learning, some things, and she hasn’t had the focus on academics,” he said. “Our voters this time have really put a stake in the ground saying, ‘Talk to us about how you’re going to solve these critical issues that are keeping our students from performing at the level we know they can,’” said Rich Nickel, president and CEO of Education Forward Arizona. Thirty-three percent of respondents said they “strongly agree” with “opposing the teaching of critical race theory, reducing access to certain books, and preventing other controversial topics in the classroom.” Significantly fewer respondents expressed concerns about cultural issues in the poll. The poll respondents hope to see nominees for superintendent and governor seats prioritize ensuring schools have quality teachers and principals, improving reading and math scores, and increasing opportunities for career and technical education. When asked about their top concerns when it comes to education, respondents ranked teacher pay, school funding, and teacher shortages highest, with 78 percent saying teacher salaries are too low and 66.2 percent saying the same of school funding. Nearly 70 percent of voters believe the state is headed in the wrong direction when it comes to education, according to a May survey of 500 likely voters conducted by Education Forward Arizona, a nonpartisan statewide nonprofit dedicated to improving the state’s educational attainment. The conditions have led to low confidence in the state’s school system. The first educator to serve in the superintendent’s role in 20 years, she has used the position to help repeal a state law that banned schools from using sex education lessons that “promoted a homosexual lifestyle.” She has also bolstered the state’s social-emotional learning resources, expanded broadband Wi-Fi access to rural schools, and worked to lower the state’s student-to-school counselor ratio. “My purpose to run is to get rid of the distractions, to focus on academics again, and get the kids’ learning up and their test scores up,” Horne said in an interview. He says he wants to create a renewed focus on academics by eliminating critical race theory, social-emotional learning, and discussions of gender identity and sexuality in the classroom. Horne first served as superintendent from 2003 to 2011. Proceeds benefit schools in the District.Twelve years later, Horne, who is seeking to reclaim the state’s top education job and unseat incumbent Superintendent Kathy Hoffman, is once again center stage in debates over race-related curriculum, parents’ rights, and LGBTQ issues-and he is deploying familiar rhetoric. We recommend that anyone making changes to the document have the Zotero Connector installed. If someone cites an item from their personal library, only they will be able to update the metadata for that item. If you're planning a large collaborative project, though, we recommend using a group library, which not only makes it easy to collect and manage materials but will also allow all collaborators to change cited item metadata (authors, title, date of publication, etc.). You and your coauthors can all insert and edit citations in a shared document, and you don't even need to be in a Zotero group. Google Docs is designed to let you collaborate on documents, and Zotero’s integration is no different. Orphaned items can exist if they were inserted by a collaborator from their My Library or a group you don't have access to or if they were deleted from your Zotero library. Items that are orphaned (i.e., not connected to any items in your Zotero database) will not have an “Open in My Library” button. In the Add Citation box, you can click on the bubble for a cited item and then click “Open in My Library” (or another library name) to view the item in Zotero. Press Enter again to insert the citation and close the Add Citation box. The item will appear in the dialog box in a shaded bubble. Select an item by clicking on it or by pressing Enter when it is highlighted. Items you have already cited in the document will be shown at the top of the list under “Cited”. Matching items will be shown for each library in your Zotero database (My Library and any groups you are part of). Matching items will instantly appear below the dialog box. Start typing part of a title, the last names of one or more authors, and/or a year in the dialog box. The citation dialog is used to select items from your Zotero library and create a citation. You can begin citing by clicking the (“Add/Edit Zotero Citation”) button in the Google Docs toolbar or by selecting “Add/Edit Citation” from the Zotero menu, both of which will bring up the citation dialog.
